Mrs. Terrie,
I wanted to send you a quick note on my son’s last day at Gateway. Mason joined Gateway almost two years ago and was greeted by the very sweet Ms. Amy, who was so kind in making Mason’s first day a joy. Both Mason and I were nervous starting a new place, and it is a day I will never forget. I am writing this letter as it is such a bittersweet moment. While I am elated to have both of my kids at the same school, I am sad to be leaving our Gateway family. I know often the notes or encounters you may have to participate in are when someone has a complaint, so I wanted to share a very different experience. Prior to Gateway, my daughter attended daycare in Baton Rouge and my son was previously enrolled in a daycare in Prairieville. While both facilities served our needs, I would not go as far as to say they felt like family. In my two years at Gateway, however, I have not had one complaint — not one. I never had to have a conversation with a teacher or bring any concerns to your attention. My son was a part of your two- and three-year-old programs, and my daughter was fortunate enough to attend summer camp for the past two years. Your teachers are trained, respectful, and most importantly, caring. They truly care for the children as if they were their own. Your facility is immaculate, and every time I arrived someone was always cleaning. Your office staff is organized, welcoming, and takes the time to get to know not only the children, but the parents as well. I have shared our experience with friends and colleagues, knowing that word of mouth is often the best advertising. As we walk out the door tomorrow, I know I will shed a few tears. It will be hard not walking through the doors of Gateway every day. I am so happy to see the school expanding and hope others are fortunate enough to have the same experience we did. Hopefully we can continue to be part of the summer camp program, as it truly made a lasting impression on our family. Thanks again for the wonderful experience, Lisa Horzelski.
